Overview

ZOI sells ceremonial, culinary and premium matcha sourced from Uji and Shizuoka in Japan and from certified Chinese growers, alongside the ceramics and bamboo tools the ritual needs.

The challenge

Matcha is bought by people who don't yet know which grade they need, and stocked by cafés who know exactly what they need. One storefront had to teach the first group without slowing down the second — and take payment across two dozen countries in two currencies.

How we approached it.

01

Split the catalogue by grade, not by guesswork

Ceremonial, culinary and premium as first-class categories, with sets and accessories — chasen whisks, chashaku scoops — alongside, so a first-time buyer picks by use rather than by price.

02

Opened it up across Europe

Four languages and 24 countries, priced in złoty or euro, with the payment methods each market actually reaches for: BLIK, Klarna, MobilePay, Apple Pay, Google Pay and the card networks.

03

Gave B2B its own front door

A dedicated wholesale track for cafés and brands stocking ZOI, so trade enquiries don't have to travel through a retail checkout.

04

Answered the questions that block a first order

Brewing guides, a blog and the certification set — ISO 9001, ISO 22000, HACCP, CNAS — published on the page, because with an ingestible product provenance is the objection.
